Nick is an active angel investor, board member and offers tailored support & advice through selected consultancies and his own advisory firm, Forge Strategy & Growth Associates. As a recent FTSE 100 director, ex-big 4 management consultant, business owner and tech investor, he is well placed to understand the challenges that commonly arise between and within organisations.

Nick regularly presents and writes on the challenges of strategy, innovation & growth. He invests & sits on the boards of several tech growth companies (including My Mini Factory which successfully hit its target funding in 16 days through equity crowdfunding). He explores new technologies & changing consumer behaviour as COO & Research Director at IORMA & as a judge for the KATERVA global sustainability awards. Nick is also actively involved in a number of advisory boards, working groups & mentor programmes including the BVCA working group on corporate venture capital, the Innovation Institute & various accelerator programmes. He belongs to selected global expert networks that offer due diligence & sector advice to institutional investors & advisors.

Nick’s 26 year “blue chip” pedigree includes Royal MailBTEYCap GeminiSantander & Aviva. In his last role, Nick was Director of Strategy and Innovation for Royal Mail Group for 6 years until July 2015 and a Board Director of Royal Mail Innovations. He led these functions at a critical time for the 500 year old organisation – which included a significant financial turnaround, the delivery of a £25bn modernisation programme and, against the odds, a successful IPO. Over this time the company’s valuation increased from £0 to £3.3bn.

He learnt the realities of business from an early age, working in his family’s group of companies – which included the famous Marquee Club in Soho and the Reading Festival. He retains a long term owner’s mindset through Entec Sound & Light, which this year has worked on tours for Blur, Florence & the Machine & Ellie Goulding.
